The Mooring has the standard six varieties rotating through their raw bar menu, but we suggest the Veuve Cliquot& Oysters, a dozen oysters and a bottle of bubbly for $69 dollars. Whether you’re looking for oysters and a cocktail or dinner on the harbor the Mooring is a great option for lunch and dinner. One of my favorite things about the Mooring is their gluten free and vegetarian menus (takes the guess work right out of it so you don’t have to sit there wondering what you can and can’t eat). A great option if you have a larger group as it’s a big space and they take reservations. In the summer you can sit out on their enclosed deck that overlooks the harbor, a pretty great place to watch the sunset too.

Belle’s Cafe is a bit of a hidden gem but everyone I recommend it to immediately sends me a message after they go there for breakfast (or lunch). Located in the Newport Shipyard it is such a great spot for breakfast on the water (and it’s pup friendly outside). Belle’s has a casual vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. It can get really busy but if you get there early you can have the place to yourself. Whatever you do, order the buttermilk pancakes.

Bar ‘Cino is a cozy Italian joint serving dinner and late night bites. They are known for an extensive wine menu and creative cocktails. Lots of shared plates, pastas and pizzas to choose from, the menu is likely to have something for everyone in the group. It’s a smaller space so probably not ideal for larger parties, but perfect to grab a seat at the bar or one of their funky tiled tables.

Amherst Massachusetts’ favorite craft pizza joint has a location in Newport and is a must try for anyone who loves pizza or wants to taste designer pizza slices like avocado quesadilla, chicken bacon ranch, or tortellini pesto!

Newport’s own craft brewery that has some awesome Rhode Island IPAs and Stouts that are perfect for summer. Stop by and get your Rhode Island brewery passport and cross this one off the list.

The Coffee Grinder is a must. Sip your tea or coffee while looking out on the harbor. Open year round it’s charming and quaint any time of year. There’s also bagels, pastries and other food options for breakfast or a light snack.

You know what they say, stop at the sign of the lemon! A quintessential Rhode Island treat, Del’s lemonade is the perfect slushy and refreshing goodness you need on a hot summer day. There are Del’s trucks at all the beaches and you can usually find them at state parks like Brenton Point and Fort Adams.

If you’re craving noodles this is your spot. A casual ramen joint yummy starters like basil chili wings and and kale salad along with ramen bowls like sesame chicken, seasonal veggie and spicy miso.

Another delicious Mexican restaurant in a cozy environment. The meat has so much flavor and falls off the bone. They also have the best margaritas! This is a great spot for group that enjoys tostadas and margaritas. Perro Salado has a charming and intimate ambiance that is great for a small to medium size group.

The branding alone will make you want to buy every, single thing in this store. From the beautiful packaging to the carefully curated shelves, Shore Soap Co is a must stop when you’re in Newport. A local couple started the brand out of their kitchen and turned it into what it is today. I also love that they are cruelty free, sulfate & paraben free and use responsible packaging to reduce environmental impact. From candles, to skincare to soaps they have a really nice assortment of products to shop. I particularly love the face mist and sea spray candle. Their scent Mermaid Kisses has a bit of a cult following.

This cute shop reminds me of a store you’d find in San Francisco, beautifully merchandised shelves filled with plants, books and potions. You can also order an espresso at the counter to sip while perusing plants. Make sure to check the website for store hours.

Handcrafted right in Newport, designer Erika Young draws inspiration from nature and her background in geology to showcase rocks, minerals, and seaside finds in her jewelry.  Her pieces have a raw, organic feel yet still delicate and refined. Pop in and check out what she has to offer, by appointment only.
